"If the federal government regulates the information and press, then the government controls you," stated Kuhn. Newspapers have a role in our democracy by "checking" or being the "watchdog" for all of the various other branches of federal government, similar to the ways all of the branches examine each various other. The press is called the "fourth estate" of the federal government.
